Shopping.com Data Feed Errors   September 12th, 2007

A quick note to let you know that we are working through some problems with Shopping.com feeds. As of last Friday evening, some feeds for Shopping.com seem to have come un-mapped and therefore your products might be showing up on Shopping.com as rejected. SingleFeed didn’t change any of our processes for delivering feeds, so Shopping.com is SingleFeed and Shopping.com are investigating the issue. In the meantime, the SingleFeed account management team is working to re-map all data feeds we’re sending Shopping.com. We’ll let you know when we have more details, but know that we are working hard to get all products back up on Shopping.com.

TheFind Data Feed Submission   September 4th, 2007

As Jeremy informed everyone, SingleFeed now supports TheFind. That brings our engine count up to nine. Some of our competitors go for quantity. SingleFeed always goes for quality. That’s been our goal from the start. We could have added fancy charts and detailed analytics from the start, but all those charts/analytics would have told merchants is to remove 80% of their products from the shopping engines. In the same way, we could have added 20 more engines over the last year, but we want to make sure merchants spend their time and effort optimizing feeds where it will have the most impact.

To sign up for TheFind, you have to be a Deluxe subscriber. To add the engine, go to the Engines page, and click on TheFind. Fill out the requested information, click the append per engine tracking code (if you so choose), and click save changes. Within about a week, you’ll see your listings up and running on TheFind.

So why sign up for TheFind?
You should sign up for TheFind because it is a free shopping search engine. There’s no risk to list your products. And if you sell ’soft’ goods, TheFind has done a great job of capturing the eyeballs of the female demographic, so expect some good results for apparel, shoes, handbags, etc.

Doesn’t TheFind crawl sites?
Yes, TheFind crawls sites, but providing TheFind structured data through a data feed will ensure that all your listings go live and that TheFind will have the freshest information possible. For the forseeable future, TheFind will not be crawling every site every day, so if you add new inventory or change prices, TheFind might not pick up on that for a while. However, if you’ve uploaded a new feed to SingleFeed with that information, we can make sure TheFind updates your listings so shoppers have accurate information at their fingertips.

Aren’t my listings already up on TheFind?
Yes, your listings are probably already up on TheFind, but as I just explained, TheFind is probably missing some products and might not have the most up to date data.

So if you’re a Deluxe subscriber, make sure to add TheFind today! And if you’re a Google Base subscriber, maybe it’s time to test out our Deluxe plan!

TheFind, Now Available at SingleFeed   September 4th, 2007

We are very pleased to add TheFind (www.thefind.com) to the list of shopping engines SingleFeed supports.

The shopping comparison engines that you can now find at SingleFeed are:

    • Google Base,
    • Yahoo! Product Submit (feeds into Yahoo! Shopping),
    • Shopzilla,
    • Become,
    • PriceGrabber,
    • Smarter,
    • NexTag,
    • Shopping.com,
    • and TheFind

As opposed to automated XML data feed submission solutions, SingleFeed focuses on data feed optimization, so merchants have the best chance of succeeding on the shopping comparison engines.

We’ll update you later today with more details on TheFind.
