Google Base Announces New Terms of Service May 27th, 2009
Google Has recently announced a change to their Google Base terms of service. If you have a Google Base account, you need to accept the new terms sometime before June 26, 2009 to ensure your listings aren’t disrupted. Just log into your Google Base account and follow the prompts. After you accept the new terms of service, you’ll be prompted to fill in some voluntary information about your business, such as the business address and phone, and customer service contact information. As this information will be used to improve the Google Base user experience, we recommend filling in as much of this optional information as you can.
Marketing & Selling SingleFeed May 11th, 2009
SingleFeed is dedicating some resources to marketing our product. Yes, we’ve done some basics like SEO and PPC. We exhibited at Internet Retailer last year. We’ve put out a couple press releases. But for the most part, we’ve spent little time, energy, or resources selling or marketing our product.
There are a couple efforts in the works right now, one of which involves adding the following content to the website:
-General Industry Information (market size, why the shopping engines matter)
-The Harsh Reality of Shopping Engines (difficulty in getting up and running)
-Why SingleFeed (who is our perfect customer, why you should/shouldn’t use SingleFeed, competitor matrix, what we do/don’t do)
-Walk Through of Site (demo of features, frequently asked questions)
The goals are to effectively sell the shopping engines as a marketing channel, describe the effort needed to succeed on the shopping engines, educate merchants why SingleFeed is or is not the best solution (we’re not right for everyone), and be as transparent as possible with what our system actually does so the merchant is able to make an informed decision about signing up (proper qualification) and there are no surprises once the merchant has singed up.
We’ll be making these changes in the next couple weeks. We’d appreciate any feedback you have. Please feel free to comment on this post or send me an email: brian@singlefeed.com.
Thanks!
